Qualifications for Membership

In order to become a member of Grace Bible Church, a person must profess Jesus Christ as personal Savior and agree to be in submission to the Elders as they govern by the Constitution of our church.

In particular, a person must:

  1. Have experienced a believer’s baptism.
  2. Have indicated that his attitudes and/or beliefs will not disrupt either the doctrinal or the spiritual unity of the church.
  3. Have a manner of life that is not contrary to the Word of God.

Process for Membership

  1. Class

    The prospective member attends a Discover Membership class to learn about our Mission, Vision, Values, How We Organize Leadership, etc.

  2. Eligibility

    The prospective member affirms eligibility for membership:

    1. Be a believer (having trusted in Christ for the forgiveness of sins).
    2. Be baptized as a believer.
    3. Agree to submit to the governance of Grace elders.
    4. Agree to support Grace’s doctrines for the purpose of unity.

  3. New member interview

    Each prospective member meets with an elder to discuss eligibility and desire to join Grace, and to have any questions about membership answered.

    1. Elders must approve the membership recommendation.
    2. Membership recommendations are published in campus-wide communication (i.e. campus newsletter).
  4. Membership approval One week later, approval of membership is announced in campus-wide communication.

Any person not in attendance for four consecutive months is considered inactive. Inactive members are reinstated as active members at the discretion of the Board of Elders.
